The Sixteenth - The Holly and the Ivy
I love that it has the unusual leap up of a 6th (and - the), the contrast often between soloists and full choir is a nice textural change. The chorus is so cheerful and uplifting (oh the running of the deer) which is welcome in winter! (I also love that it often has a strange metre feel to it which gives you that medieval sense.. I haven’t checked that it is) but it feels so old and like your tapping into history!
