One of my favourite hymns is ‘Tell out my soul’ .
Why? The words are based on what Mary said after the angel asked her to be the mother to the Lord Jesus. The yes to God that she gave was one of the most amazing selfless acts I know and a willingness to step into the unknown. The words of ‘tell out my soul’ is based on the Magnificat as Mary glorified God. When I sing the hymn I am reminded to worship God first and foremost and to be reminded that it is good for me to magnify God, to sing of what he has done and what He will do. The final line of the hymn brings that hope and our desire for our faith to move from one generation to another - please God we pray, to ‘children’s children and forever more.
