Day 1

Day 1 - The Approach

Over the next few days, we hope to post a virtual meditative tour of St George’s Church, and look at a different part of the building in order giving you another opportunity to spend time with God in prayer. Our virtual tour begins at the driveway to church as we remind ourselves of Christ’s supremacy in our lives.

Scripture Readings:

He himself is before all things and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, firstborn from the dead so that he might come to have first place in everything. (1 Colossians 1: 17-18)

‘But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.’ (Ephesians 4: 15-16)

Reflection:

Although the church doors are closed, the church has not gone away and we explore new ways to join together in love, to work together to care for the most vulnerable and to stay connected. We are all learning to encounter God in new ways and places: For example, we may encounter God in our own homes, in hospital beds, through Zoom or Facebook, through reading new material, perhaps as we walk on our daily exercise allowance, and speaking to new friends. Many of us are learning to trust others in ways we have never needed to before. We are longing for the time, when we can, once again, worship together in church; but for now, let us pray that we may return, strengthened in love.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we pray that your love will unite us in our separation, draw us closer to you and to each other and show us who we need to pray for or connect with today. Amen.
